Boys will be boys...right? Not necessarily! If you believe that sexist adage means that boys have permission to behave badly...AND you give your boys that permission then guess what??? They will! I believe our dogs will behave the way we expect them to.
If you expect males to fight...they will. I expect my boys to make nice and... respect my authoritauss! And they do.
I let there be no doubt in any of my dogs’ minds just who is alpha bitch in our house. I also allow Mox and Thorn to work out their little differences peaceably themselves. That way these small sources of friction are relieved as they come up. They are never allowed to grow unaddressed until they want to kill eachother.
I also started roadworking both boys together on the bike as soon as Mox was old enough (at least 18 months). That way they became desensitized to bouncing into eachother while focusing on something else...the road. |
